SubTitle:  A Loveswept Classic Romance

"All hotel manager Carol Lawson wants from her new life in Carefree, Arizona, is to stay busy. Work and more work keep regrets from flooding back. But from the moment tall, dark, and delicious Cody Briggs strides into her life, Carol feels a little reckless. He is a vision out of her dreams - a powerful renegade determined to awaken her senses and heal her broken spirit.

Cody knows what it's like to feel betrayed by life. A renowned archeologist who refused to trade integrity for profit, he's faced his demons. But he understands the healing power of this breathtaking land - and in Carol's timeless beauty and sensuality, he sees the perfect woman to share it with. Can ecstasy bring Carol to the point of no return, where a leap of faith promises a love that is destiny?"

My first venture to Romance Westerns! Adrienne Staff’s writing is easy to read and brings imagination out and creates beautiful landscapes of Arizona, even to a woman who hasn't seen a desert in her whole life.

Carol comes across guarded as hell, determined to not let even one thing slip, all she wants is work, and her own room where she can nurse her broken self... Not what you'd expect from a leading lady, which is why Cody becomes the driving force of the story.

Cody might be rugged and rough around the edges these days, with every right, which makes him interesting to figure out, where Carol seems to whine and freak out quite a lot. Perhaps it's just me, but I like my leading ladies strong, even if they do have weaknesses, even if they are bit broken.

The story on its own is fairly interesting, Carol puts on the brakes at every turn, where Cody couldn't care less about traffic violations, which is interesting, though at time frustrating, chemistry. Cody is determined they have a future together if she would just let go off her grief and anger and her control issues, Carol sees it differently and fights to tooth and nail that nothing is going between them.
