FOLLOW FRIDAY #3

Friday Follow is fun way to know more about us readers and great way to make new friends! Hosted by Parajunkee and Alison Can Read - this week feature site is is Bonnie @ Hands and Home.

Question
Talk about the book that most changed or influenced your life (was it a book that turned you from an average to avid reader, did it help you deal with a particularly difficult situation, does it bring you comfort every time you read it?).

Answer : If it wasn't for J.R.R. Tolkien’s "The Lord of the Rings" Trilogy I would not be married, would have never met my husband and wouldn't have just celebrated my 6th wedding anniversary with him. It helps that the book is absolutely epic, wonderfully written, beautiful is style, telling and scenery. When it comes to classics this is my ultimate favorite, I fell in love with Legolas (before movie), wanted Boromir to be good all along, wanted Sam to be the hero (and how did that turn out!?), wanted to celebrate Pippen and Merry's home coming to Shire after becoming the best version of themselves through trials. Wanted the Tree Ents to absolutely wipe the table of Saruman's army, wanted to morn Gandalf until he returned as Gandalf the White, wanted to see the Golden Wooden City of Lothlorien and spend the rest of my life there...
Plus it was the first big classic that I read and got heavily invested in researching to no end - even leaned Elvish.
Yes, The Lord of the Rings Trilogy it is for me!

  6. Hey Sarah! Well, after reading the books I signed up at a Tolkien Forum and he (hubby) was there as well, we got to talking about Tolkien's work in detail and then talking about ourselves and then meeting one day for a summer vacation and it turned out that we liked to be around each other and rest is well-- pretty obvious, ;) we got married about 4 years later. :) Ten years together thanks to the Lord of the Rings. ♥
I suppose I should mention I live in Finland and he use to live in U.S. ;)
