Julie poked her head around the corner in time to see Tristan making his way down the long hallway.  She quickly got back to work, annoyed that he’d gone so far with his investigation.  Their voices had carried well into the kitchen during the heat of their argument.  She’d been tempted to intervene, but knew better than to interfere with Alpha business.

Padding into the room, Tristan eyed Julie standing next to the stove, pouring the broth into Tupperware containers.

“She sleeping?” Julie asked, already aware of the answer.  He’d been down in her room for well over an hour, sitting in total silence, watching Kalli sleep, and she found it curious that he was taking such an interest in the injured human woman.

“You didn’t bring the soup,” he commented.

“You were busy,” she curtly replied.

“What gives, Jules?  Just say it.”

“I guess it shouldn’t surprise me that you don’t take direction well, Alpha.  Although I guess you’re more used to giving directions than taking them,” she huffed.  “I could hear the ruckus all the way in here.  No disrespect intended, but I did say not to upset her, didn’t I?”

“Yeah well, it’s not easy being king,” he remarked with a smart-assed inflection, grabbing a bowl of soup.  He sat down at the counter and began eating while she finished working.

“Sorry, I don’t mean to be so hard on you.  I know you’ve gotta do what you’ve gotta do.  It’s just that seeing her like that….all those scrapes and bruises and bite marks.  My God, she was a mess.  I suppose I’m going a little mother hen on you.  I’m not used to having to deal with such violence.  You are good to us, here.”

“No worries.  We worked it out.   She’s a tough one, you know.   Believe me; she’ll be right as rain, soon. My spidey sense tells me so,” he joked.

“All right then, I’m going to leave you some crackers and ginger ale to put next to her bed in case she wakes up in the middle of the night starving.  I was able to get a little bit of the electrolyte fluid into her before she woke up all the way.  I have to say that it’s unusual for a human not to be dehydrated.  I guess she must have been really, really healthy before this happened to her.  It’s almost as if…well, never mind.”

Tristan stopped eating and stared over at Julie, who looked deep in thought.  “What is it?”

“Oh, I’m just being crazy.  I was just going to say that it’s almost as if she had the constitution of a wolf.  Silly, huh?”

“Yeah, silly.” Tristan bit into a cracker, considering her assessment.  Silly?  Or right on target?  He felt it too.  Something about that woman wasn’t exactly human, but then again, she wasn’t at all supernatural.

Julie gathered up her purse and gave Tristan a quick hug and kiss on the cheek.  “Okay, hun, well, call me if you need anything.  I’ll stop by tomorrow to check on our girl.  Maybe bring up some clothes for her, too.  Get some rest, okay?  Love ya!” she chirped as she entered the elevator and the doors slid shut.

Tristan reveled in the quietness surrounding him.  He needed to think about his next steps, his strategy.  He planned to bring in a sketch artist, so they could put a face to the arsonists.  The meeting with Jax Chandler was in another two days, and he needed to get his shit together before it all went down.  Throwing his bowl in the sink, he went to take a hot shower.  He needed to think, without his libido interfering.  It was as if he’d just been given a few more pieces of a jigsaw puzzle for which he didn’t have the picture.  But he was cunning, and that’s what he did best, work with the impossible to make the possible happen.  He was Alpha.

            It’s then that his face tips and he offers a smile to their waitress. She was pretty, he wouldn't lie, but when Julian set his teeth into something…well, he didn't let go. Kind of a perfect fit for Halloween! I usually shy very far away from witch books because they sound so fake to a former eclectic wiccan, but there was something about the blurb of Hidden Salem that made me feel like this book was going to be different - not the flashy, easy witchiness, but the earthy style... with all the eeriness and scariness that go with suspense. And I was right! I love it when that happens! ;)

Makayla was absolutely great to read! As investigating story hunter she's got moxy and lots of courage but she definitely still has a soft underbelly and that makes her a great character. I loved how easy the connection were with Ma, Noah and Dylan, they got a great sensual connection too ( I usually don't shy away from saying if something needs more romance, but I think Hidden Salem had the perfect mix with the suspense, the Salem Witch hunt and little bit of romance to stir the chemistries ).

I love the cover, I love how well it presents the book and how it shows the eeriness of the novel.

You'll love this if you... like your witches evil and scary, history mixed with modern scares and a tough heroine!

Seriously, what can I say? I love short paranormal suspense stories! And you can really beat the bunch line here all the proceeds go to the Cancer Foundation. :) No one can feel bad about buying this book. I really enjoyed all the stories, I loved the Halloween theme!

I enjoyed Halloween Frost for the emotional side, Fat Cat for the telepathic kitty humor, Medium Rare for Colleen and Bricks' chemistry, Sweet Demon for the second chance romance, Sian's Solution for the excitement, A Bit of Bite for detectiveness and Halloween ;) , Sinfully Sweet for sexy baking business, A Night of Forever for Victorian Era vampire in lust, Feel The Magic for fun action, Breaking Out for suspense, Halloween, experiments and the action and Ghostly Justice for the chase!

I will say though, as there are lot of sequels sometimes you get caught in thinking you are bit lost or something is explained bit much.

And I will say this will make you wanna pick up more books by some of the authors, like I would want to read more by Nancy Haddock for sure!

This is for paranormal suspense lover who enjoy a little romance in there as well! :D

One hot re-telling of Goldilocks and the Three Bears! I've read one before this and on the heat level this sure kicks ass. The plot in Goldie and The Three Bears is a simple one of Honey ( nicknamed  Goldie ) escaping a burglar to finding herself in three bear cabin in were-bear mating season ( I can't even think were-bear with a straight face, my mind immediately jumps to Carebears and that's just... wrong ;) ), with the weres and her clan in an unsteady peace.

So three were-bears and Goldie and one of them fits just right, naughty, yeah well the whole book was so sue me! ;) I liked Cruz dominating animalistic were side ( includes spanking and cuffs ) and his jealous streak towards Goldie and her try outs with the other two bears. The other two bear were hot in there own right but got much less play time. ;) The story was a fun romp in the woods with some wicked hot shifter action for our Goldielocks, but like all fairy tales this one ends well too but not before something goes horribly wrong.

Honey's romance with Cruz is the driving force of the story even with her werebear harem antics with Tyson and Lane, the threat on her life and the secrets kept from her. Goldie and The Three Bears was entertaining, fun, sexy hot erotic romance for the lovers of shifters and to those who don't mind convenient magic ( which I am not but it didn't bother too much ). ;)

I have the pleasure to welcome to For The Love of Reading, Lynn Rush, an amazing author who has come by to talk a little about her new book Awaited ( which rocked, btw ) and about the in-between of Young Adult and Adult... here we go!

What is New Adult?

One question I often get asked is, “What is New Adult?”

Crescent Moon Press has really taken the leap into this exciting new space, and I’m honored to be one of their first authors.

If you think about it, Young Adult ( YA ) is a branch of children’s stories—just the older end of it. If you’re someone who likes to see numbers, the age ranges for YA are anywhere from 12-16 or so.
Then, you have the adult books. Romantically, they can be pretty intense. Some are very descriptive and deal with some heavy adult life issues.

But what about the middle ground? Readers who want a little more than the sweet romance of the young teen years yet those who aren’t ready for the heavy, intense romance of the adult novels…

That’s where I come in. :) Here’s a little definition that works pretty well to describe New Adult:

Young adult stories are just as complex as any mainstream novel, however you'll find the romantic element is handled more gently in comparison. Also, the characters are generally in Middle School or High School. New Adult novels take the story to the next level romantically. The characters are usually out of school and confronted with life challenges.

Sure, some of the characters in my Wasteland Trilogy ( http://lynnrush.com/the-wasteland-trilogy/ ) might be four-hundred to eleven-hundred years old, but they look twenty-something. And the level of romance throughout the stories is on the sweeter side of hot. So it’s a nice fit.

Now, my Violet Night Trilogy ( http://lynnrush.com/the-violet-night-trilogy/emma/ ), which starts releasing October 2012, the main characters really ARE in their twenties and actually live on a college campus, so that’s even closer to the New Adult definition.
