PRIMAL SONG REVIEW & GUEST BLOG "LIKE AN ANIMAL"

"Daisy sets the gold standard for a premium rush. Her combative personality should turn him off, but every time they fight they end up in bed, or on the floor, or against a wall—and the sex is always more combustible than the time before. And he’s not about to give that up. Ever."

"Deputy Daisy Picou is not impressed when Ram Reinhardt prowls into town all rock star swagger and big cat ego. She’s been burned by a lion before and has no intention of playing the fool twice. But with one scorching glance the mating frenzy ignites and passion trumps reason. An intense first encounter levels Daisy’s reservations—and most of her living room. And she’s not so sure she minds.

Ram Reinhardt has burned through and brushed aside just about every adrenaline-inducing thrill life’s thrown at him. But Daisy sets the gold standard for a premium rush. Her combative personality should turn him off, but every time they fight they end up in bed, or on the floor, or against a wall—and the sex is always more combustible than the time before. And he’s not about to give that up. Ever."  ~ From Goodreads

Primal Song was so much fun to read! The plot is entertaining, the characters fun and believable, and the small town setting with a rock star was a nice touch! Ram's desire to leave the small hicksville he's arrived to soon changes when he spots the town deputy and then there is no force on earth that will move him from her doorway - and that is just a really juicy platform to build a shifter romance from!

I loved Daisy's tough attitude, being a bear shifter she was build bigger and not a cute southern belle and she had trouble understanding why Ram was coming after her, which was so much fun to read! I love heroines who aren't aware of their charms.

Of course then there Ram, who comes off first as big time rock star, irritated and arrogant, but soon shows signs of wanting to change parts of his life, and when he gives in to the mating frenzy and takes Daisy he sees everything he's ever wanted, and a way out of the hectic yet dulling effects of his career of choice. Having to fight for Daisy when women usually flock to him is new and he's enjoying the hunt!

The romance was yummy! This is the kinda that I love, you got the action without one boring moment, you have a alpha hero with a undeniable lust for the heroine, a leading lady with no desire to mate ( except all the hidden one's she's fighting to keep under the lid ) and misunderstandings and fun moments that tickled your funny bone!

You'll love this if... you're a fan of shifters, erotic romance with a strong story line and lion trying everything in his arsenal to win his mate's heart!

Oh, did I forget to mention there is some sizzling hot sex in it!

Like an Animal
by Danica Avet

Y’all remember that song, Closer by Nine Inch Nails? Yeah, that’s what shifter sex is all about in my mind. It’s hot, it’s dirty, it’s sometimes bloody, and above all, it’s orgasmic ;)

I think that’s why I love writing shifters so much. They’re humans with human problems, but they also have the added benefit of being in tune with their animalistic natures. I constantly remind people that humans are animals at heart. We just cover it up with manners and culture, yet shapeshifters are animals and they make it fun to write about them.

What’s sexier than a male who immediately recognizes a woman’s arousal? Shifters have an enhanced sense of smell. They know when a woman wants them and their animal half won’t let them ignore it.  It helps with conflict, with the intensity of fighting their human sides as their animal halves work to do what nature dictates.

Then you have the strength of a shifter. I love the idea of a man who can take a woman, flip her this way and that in order to satisfy both their needs. They can bend and twist a woman into any position to make sure there’s no doubt in her mind who she belongs to. Are you sweating yet?

And then there are the sounds. Wolves growl and snarl. Tigers and lions roar and purr. Can you imagine having a wild man in your bed who’s vocal in his appreciation of your attentions? Who uses all of his senses to make sure pleasure is all she feels? It’s sexy as all hell. And let’s not forget that because these shifters are so close to their animal sides, nothing is too naughty for them. They embrace everything about their bodies and have no shame when it comes to enjoying it.

Now with all of that to think about, don’t you think shifters are sexy? Hell, I’m ready to sign up, how about you?

"When Serena awakes, after a close and unpleasant encounter with some sort of stun gun, she very quickly learns that resistance is futile and escape only a yearned for dream. She, and the other Earth women Serena meets aboard ship with her, have been captured by the Moyds, interstellar merchants, their mission, to procure fertile wives for the men of Volarn, where their race is endangered due to the wide-spread sterility of their own women.

Learning this is at least some relief to the captured women, but Serena is disgusted to realize that they are nothing in these men's eyes but baby makers. Regardless, she knows she has no choice but to face the fate that awaits her with as much dignity as she can muster.

Once they arrive on Volarn, Serena learns that her assessment has not been entirely accurate. Using their power crystals in the Tarthra Ritual, the warriors approach the women with their crystals to find the mate most suited to them.. .a woman to love who can love them. Serena is chosen to become King Rhamus' queen, but, just as she feels herself weakening to Rhamus' romantic, passionate nature, Rhamus' enemy, Xarath, abducts her."  ~ From Goodreads

Warning: Contains explicit sex, graphic language and some violence

The story in Love's Captive is interesting to say the least, it has that sci-fi erotic romance feel with abduction and aliens but then has  very strong romance to it with the mating system the Volarns have which is all about a love match. There's a whole lot to this world and as a series it makes sense, all the strange names for plants and people hint that there is more to come. Ms. Nour did a good job in writing an entertaining chick-lit sci-fi with a strong romance and two very different cultures - a novel that had all the actions, passion and threat that a good book requires!

Serena's wrestler physique making her desirable in Volarn was an interesting twist, you usually don't have too many women wrestler heroines. But she made a good match for Rhamus who was seven foot and built like a warrior from fantasy game - I liked all the depth Rhamus had, instead of just brutish force and plan of seduction, and Nour had written him with a very distinct separation from human culture with was interesting to read. I enjoyed Serena's lessons in becoming a Queen - but also when she had rely to her old strengths when abducted by Rhamus' arch enemy.

The romance was good, from seduction to Rhamus leaving her right after the first act it felt bit odd, but I chucked it under different cultures. The thing was they weren't falling in love from page one they were falling in lust so all the warm and fuzzies didn't really show up until they begun to know each other. And for a slow simmering romance this was good - but to be honest I'm more the high emotional charge from the beginning kind of girl. ;) But like I said it did come when they begun to fall in love.

If you love... sci-fi romance with a fantasy feel and heroine who can kick butt trying her hands at being a Queen then this is for you! Also if you're an arachnophobic then this isn't for you.

The second book in the series Heart of The Dragon is out!
