"A Montana town where no one is who they seem....

Everything about runaway heiress Ainsley McLeon screamed trouble - from her luscious midnight locks to her Louboutin-clad toes.  Yet sexy, stoic bar owner Luc couldn't deny the instant connection he felt to the tempting stranger… or the long-dead feelings she evoked.  She could work in his pub until her truck was fixed but after that she had to leave town for good.

Ainsley traveled with her own emotional baggage and there was no way she'd fall for the bear-tempered Luc... no matter how many passionate nights she spent in his bed or how safe she felt in his muscular arms. Can these two opposites find love in the middle of a blizzard, or will Luc's darker side and Ainsley's past catch up with them?"  ~ From Goodreads

The blurb really draws you in, it's got everything you could want, werebears, an heiress, danger and fashion, doesn't get much better than that in my book! ;) I love the plot of Ainsley putting pedal to the metal to get out of LA to save her life, she's ingenious, she's smart and NOT an obnoxious bitch - I loved her mean streak and her ability to take care of herself.

And the grumpy bear, literally, Luc was the epitome of it, he was struggling through losing his family in a car accident and that had turned him quite the crouch, but with great big kind heart. He wanted to through Ainsley out on her ass with her designer jeans first until he saw the mess and bruises she was in then it it was protective instinct 101 and we know how that ends up in romances. ;)

Luc and Ainsley together were a blast, she didn't take no for an answer and he was running out of tricks to keep her at a distance. Of course this meant attraction, chemistry ( oh so good chemistry! ) and the mandatory kiss that just couldn't be stopped. This was a proper Romance, and I loved it! Luc and Ainsley ended up being seriously hot together and with Ainsley's death threats coming out to Luc's knowledge things went from hot to sizzling, got to love a sexy big muscled protective Care bear! Err, sorry, Werebear. ;)

Lions, Tigers, and Sexy Bears Oh My! was a prime example of entertaining, sexy and suspense filled were-romance! I couldn't get enough and I am desperate to read more Candace Havens novels in the future! Not only is she a top notch writer with magnetic characters but she writes some serious funny shit! My favorite? Ainsley's reaction to finding out Luc's a bear... I won't spoil it but involves a small dark space and shit load of brownies. ;)

I want more!

REVIEW - FOR DESIRE ALONE

"A painful past taught John Rycroft that he’s not fit to be anyone’s knight in shining armor. His soft spot - make that a hard spot - for Mariah is precisely why he’s kept his distance. Yet the sight of her flirting with a bevy of men vying to become her next lover makes something inside him snap."

"When friends turn to lovers, anything can happen…

A mistress should never be foolish enough to fall in love with her protector, nor trust him with her financial future. Mariah Desmond did both, and now her dearly departed protector has left her with nothing. Forced to seek another protector, she’s determined that this time, she’ll lead with her survival instinct - not her heart. But when she attends one of Vivien Manning’s infamous parties, the familiar face of her late lover’s best friend throws her for a loop.

A painful past taught John Rycroft that he’s not fit to be anyone’s knight in shining armor. His soft spot - make that a hard spot - for Mariah is precisely why he’s kept his distance. Yet the sight of her flirting with a bevy of men vying to become her next lover makes something inside him snap.

As John hauls her bodily away from her suitors, Mariah's indignation melts away in the heat of the sizzling sexual chemistry. She quickly finds it isn't easy to navigate John’s stormy emotional waters. Especially when his abusive father’s quest to get his son back under his thumb puts her life in danger."  ~ From Goodreads

Passion and sneaking around the rules of the Regency society never was as hot as this! For Desire Alone is one hot erotic romance! And this being book 2 did absolutely nothing to stop me from enjoying the story, it's a stand alone one. Now, what makes this story extremely entertaining reading is not just all the yummyness, but the characters and how they fit!

John and Mariah made the romance great, I loved her bold attitude and her desire to not get comfortable with John even if they spend days and nights together - which is what John was drawn to. John was a great hero, not a much of a one to begin with but like in all great romances our heroine heals something broken and they can spend the rest of their lives together. So sue me I love love love happy endings. ;)

The romance was very erotic, the amount of sex in this novel is mid-blowing, in all the good ways! Plus there is love and that just makes it perfect! Even though they start of with just the physical it's lovely seeing their emotions deepen and be denied - good stuff! As much as I liked the erotic part I most enjoyed the romantic journey, the denial, the desire and the jealousy!

So why not 5 stars? Basically I was reading another historical romance at the time and it made me realize that I would have enjoyed more history in this one, I'm not saying there wasn't any, but I would have enjoyed a touch of regency properness. ;) That said I can't wait to read more by Ms Michaels!

GUEST BLOG - GETTING IT ON IN REGENCY TIMES

Getting it on in Empire Waists

The Victorian period is commonly known for its erotic elements. Not only were some of the first ( and often very strange ) erotic fiction pieces being written, but because of the sensibility of the time, with sex being so taboo, there is an underlying eroticism that seems to permeate everything. People fainted at the sight of chair legs, for heaven’s sake.

But the period I write, the Regency period, is less often seen as an “erotic setting”, even though it is one of the most popular time periods for romance novels. I've often wondered why this was true because I love writing erotic romance set in the Regency period. Why? Well, here it goes:

  1. The Rules : Just like in the Victorian period, the Regency period has many rules. But they aren't as… weird as Victorian maudlin rules. Women and men were kept apart, so finding a way around that is very difficult, especially if your heroine is a gently bred lady. But then again, all ladies need to be tutored by their lovers, so that can be fun. I had a great deal of fun focusing on that very issue in my summer release, An Introduction to Pleasure.
  2. The Clothes : The Victorian’s have their sexy corsets under layer upon layer of crinoline. Fun yes, but so is the more streamlined Regency style. Inspired by Greek fashions, they were thin fabrics, often lower-cut necklines and a minimal amount of underclothes. Essentially, they scream ‘easy access’ for lovers who want to get frisky on the quick.
  3. The Men : The "Upper Ten Thousand", or the richest of those in the country at the time, ran everything. And just as they are the heroes of many traditional regency romances, their sexy, titles selves really play into erotic stories. Men of immense power, and perhaps interesting proclivities, searching for women to fulfill their desires. And then there are the ones outside the titled and rich. I’m just saying, there are some sexy men floating around in great coats.
  4. The Women : Though the ladies of the bunch are raised to be proper, it’s always fun to play with what they should and shouldn't do. And there are a wealth of courtesans, maids and governesses who can also find sin and love.

Essentially it’s the fact that there are so many delicious taboos that make Regency Erotic Romance so fun to write. So do you love the regency period in your erotic fiction as much as I do? Have any taboos you’d like to see a writer break?
