GUEST BLOG : WHY WE FALL FOR BAD BOYS

Welcome to April and Danielle to For The Love of Reading!

The Authors of Flesh and Feathers have come by with a great Guest Blog investigating why we fall for bad boys? Because let's face it you know you fall for them too, even if your brain tells you it's not good for you. ;)

Flesh and Feathers

"Azaleigh's life is simple until, by chance, she meets Kale. Charming and handsome Az is drawn to him.  But dangerous plans are unfolding around her.  As her life begins to crumble and Kale disappears, Gage, calm and supportive, arrives. Much is at stake, including Az’s life. And her heart."

Why we fall for bad boys

Because we are women, bad boys are a must. Don't get us wrong, we love some good boys, but what is it about a bad boy we love so much?

Our thought is this... let's name our Han. Han is six foot two, jet black hair and bright blue eyes. His shirt is snuggle to his chest showing every ripple. Han drives a motorcycle and have a cigarette hanging from his mouth. A leather jacket swung over his shoulder as his stands next to his bike. Han makes everyone nervous and has a don't mess with me attitude. Now, we walk by and Han throws us a little wink. We automatically melt inside because this bad-ass has shown us some kind of attention.

Is it that we think in this wild crazy world, where he can have anything he wants, he made a connection with us? Now we are interested. What would make this man, who could have or do anything want us? This is of course is entirely our opinion, but its like we are now a special thing for this individual. We crave this attention... to be wanted and coveted by something so wild and out of control. Maybe it's because deep inside, we are really bad girls ourselves.

Thanks so much for having us today!

Thanks for coming by ladies!
Awesome guest blog, and I cannot help but agree, also Han is hot! ;D Come back anytime!

REVIEW - DUAL ABDUCTION

"Brax and Xarn are both dead set on seducing her for themselves. But she's denying both men, scared she'll break their friendship, and also they are purple aliens! Excerpt: How to knock aliens unconscious

Louisa isn't having the best of days, abducted by aliens while on a field trip with her delinquent orphan girls kind of sucks, but not without resources she discovers the small green aliens aren't as tough as they look, so the girls arm themselves for a takeover.

Brax and Xarn have been best friends since they were born and brothers in swords since they could hold them up. There is nothing these two mercenaries won't share, except when they take a job and find Louisa, then all bets are off and it's every alien for themselves as they set to seduce Louisa and make her choose which one she wants to take to bed.

But she's denying both men, scared she'll break their friendship, and also they are purple aliens! But what's an earth girl to do when she's tag teamed by two hunky alien men who suddenly seem to think three isn't a crowd after all...

"Watch out universe, because if you thought the purple warriors, Brax and Xarn, were a menace to the galaxy before, then hang on tight, because hopelessly in love, they’re more deadly - and hilarious - than ever."

More! I absolutely have to have more! This series is undeniably addictive - it's witty, funny, sexy, entertaining, well written and hot! That's enough adjectives? Not nearly, but I'll refrain myself. Dual Abduction continues where Accidental Abduction and Intentional Abduction left off - Brax and Xarn the joking duo of extremely hot and dangerous purple alien hunks are about to meet their mate and her herd of delinquent teenage girls freshly abducted from earth and itching to get back. Of course that being a big no-no, they instead settle in the warriors' ship and wreak havoc on the furniture and on their minds and this is a delicious cue for frustration, embarrassment and earthly dating tips to get Louisa to come over to the Team Alien.

Dual Abduction made me laugh out loud, cringe at embarrassment and blush at the sexual endeavors. Who knew aliens had voyeuristic sides? Langlais knows how to write hot sex, and not just that, but built to it with sexual tension hot enough to fuel few spaces crafts! Dual Abduction being twice as hot with the bad boy hunks setting after our heroine's heart, teasing her, tempting her and showing her pleasure despite her virtuous attempts to steer clear of the best friends. That, girls, makes for a sizzling hot delicious read!

I have come to love science fiction romance, when I was younger I read lots of Star Wars novels, and now that I'm all into Romance, these two are so married! Dual Abduction is mainly about the romance, but I loved all the science fiction, the umm... well, molesting showers, space crafts, alien planets and vegetation, the non-humanoid aliens, the odd customs, the odd gestures and the weird cultures! I loved how eccentric and unabashed Brax and Xarn were and how they contracted with the slightly reserved and religious Louisa, who had a tough streak a mile wide, due to her teacher job.

I won't go on and on about how great this novel is ( though I want to squee and gush! ) but I will demand you buy the series! ;) If you have any interest in sci-fi romance then you must pick out these three books Accidental Abduction, Intentional Abduction and Dual Abduction because - trust me on this - you want to read them back to back and you will be annoyed if you can't start the next one right away. Ten dollars so well spent! ;)

Want my reviews on all these bad boys? Here they are - all 5 STAR mind you. ;) Accidental Abduction, Intentional Abduction and Dual Abduction!

Also, there is a fourth book in the works! Which just gets me giddy, waiting for the next Alien Abduction installment to come out in late 2012/early 2013!

REVIEW - INTENTIONAL ABDUCTION

"Waking up tied to a bed by a gorgeous redhead surely isn’t bad, but her wanting him to impregnate her strikes a wrong cord and he swears revenge on the fetchingly innocent warrior woman. Jaro’s stint in one relationship ended bitterly with betrayal and whoring around and hence he’s sworn off all women except for fun but Aylia drives him mad both emotionally and physically."

Excerpt: First Kiss

It has become time for Aylia to go hunt and kidnap a male to breed her first duaghter, who will become a warrior like herself – but as she’s adopted to the Zonian society she had to go find a humanoid male to chace, incapacitate, seduce and breed with. For a sheltered warrior like Aylia it’s a wonder how brave the men off the Zonian planet are, but she’s picked her male, the bravest and strongest she’d been able to find – Jaro.

Waking up tied to a bed by a gorgeous redhead surely isn’t bad, but her wanting him to impregnate her strikes a wrong cord and he swears revenge on the fetchingly innocent warrior woman. Jaro’s stint in one relationship ended bitterly with betrayal and whoring around and hence he’s sworn off all women except for fun, and even then only once per woman – but Aylia drives him mad both emotionally and physically. Threatening to sell her to a nearest pleasure planet after turning the tables on her, he gets one wild cat who can’t help but melt into a kitten in bed. But as it turns out, he can’t stand the idea of any other men touching her so how is he supposed to sell her?

This book was just as amazing as the first book in the series, if not even more so! Langlais’ writing is witty, funny and downright dirty at times! Her characters are fantastically out there, men the epitomes of alpha and the women strong, opinionated and talkative – Jaro and Aylia sure were a match made in heaven, their bickering, and verbal bitch slaps were so entertaining that I literally couldn’t set the book down until I was done!

The plot I loved, an Amazon type female character setting out to get la... umm, a man to impregnate her then casting him off to raise the baby to become a warrior on her planet. But her adopted status, her being a human and not Zonian guarantees things will not be going according to plan, and her falling for Jaro was so entertaining to read, and at times heartbreaking.

I love reading Eve Langlais' books, she knows how to write funny! It's thoroughly entertaining few hours spent in a totally alien world where moral laws don't ably and men are hunky and purple and woman aren't afraid to get physical, meaning few bunches and jabs, get your mind off the gutter...

Now to the gutter! The sexual tension in Intentional Abduction is delicious! All the "I shouldn't, I need to, I want to, I can't..." and then the give in, priceless! Langlais has a wicked style of seduction - which is a joy to read - that you can't help but get addicted to. Hence I recommend you get all these three Alien Abduction Novels at the same time, because you will seriously be pissed if you can't start the next right away! ;D

Now few words on Jaro. Hot, built, strong, possessive, bossy, addictive, funny, witty and sexy as hell, oh boy okay so more than few words. These purple men sure are a weakness when met, luckily there is more where they came from! In the next book we get not one seriously built Warrior but two! Brax and Xarn who help out Jaro get his human barbarian girl in Intentional Abduction. Joy!

I could go on and on about how great this novel is, but I'd be ruining the suspense so you'll just have to take my word on it and get this trilogy! Here is my 5 star review on Accidental Abduction, and in day or two you'll get my review on Dual Abduction! ( which just came out! )

I can't stress this enough, if you are at all into sci-fi romance, this funny, sexy, addictive trilogy has to make it to your e-reader!

REVIEW - LONG HARD RIDE

"Colby has been watching Channing since the first rodeo, he’s been chatting her up, hitting on her and finally she’s free of the Aussie poseur, he moves in and strikes a deal with Channing, she’ll travel with them and see the shows if she agrees to offer her lush body for the three men to warm."

Genre: Erotic Cowboy Romance (18+ Only)
Series: Rough Riders #1
Amazon: Buy / $4.59 (Kindle) ( EU price, click to see US price )
Barnes & Noble: Buy / $4.24 (Nook)
Excerpt: Chapter 1

Channing is going through her rebellion against her parents, her destined job and the role her society has ordered for her, and she’s doing this by joining one of the riders in the rodeo. But when her cocky, secretive Aussie turns out to have a wife back home, Channing is stranded in the middle of America with nothing more than her wits and one bag of clothes.

Colby has been watching Channing since the first rodeo, he’s been chatting her up, hitting on her and finally she’s free of the Aussie poseur, he moves in and strikes a deal with Channing, she’ll travel with them and see the shows if she agrees to offer her lush body for the three men to warm. The scandalous deal fits Channing’s rebellion and she agrees, thinking she’ll learn a thing or two from the rough and tumble cowboys. What she doesn’t expect is to feel something stronger than lust for Colby – and for him to develop an odd jealous streak.

Colby and Channing have undeniable chemistry, though it is not establish in the beginning but further into the story, as well as the reason why she made the deal with Colby and joins the three men on the Rodeo Tour. Which is why I let it slip a little in the synopsis, because had I known it Channing’s actions would have made her feel less like a hussy and more of an experimenter in the beginning.

Colby was exhibitionist, tight on control and came out bit too strong at times, even though he had a vulnerability when it came to Channing and what she wanted. Channing was the ultimate society girl who had everything decided for her, and her escape to the rodeo tour was her rebellion only she didn’t think she was going to have more than fun and freedom until she met sexy, strong cowboy who ended up stealing more than kisses.

Hot story, more sexy cowboy action than you could imagine, spiced with jealousy and steamy threesomes. Ms. James knows how to write them hot, doesn’t she! There was enough plot to have the reader guessing and wishing, wither it came to Channing and Colby or Edgar’s moodiness or introducing the couple for the next book, loved them both by the way! Thumps up for the dialogue, I love when I get a sexy erotic romance novel with realistic language wither in the love scenes or around them. Nothing spoils a book for me like dumb dialogue, luckily Long Hard Ride was more than good it was entertaining, fun and witty with the right kind of comic relief with all the yummy action.

With series starting this hot I’m not at all surprised she’s written 12 more novels in the Rough Riders series – and boy am I happy I have them all to read in my future!

Excerpt: Chapter 1

Johnny has a plan for the summer, shag every female member of his new band, no matter if they are single, in a relationship or batting for the other team. Big ambitions, but Johnny's has some help being about a hot as they come, ripped, built and handsome - there is very little resistance but forth.

One night though it strikes him that he's being as used as he uses the girls, even if he is honest and upfront about it, suddenly sex is just an act, and he's wondering if it would be different if he had real feelings for the girl he's with. Maybe there is more to his life than screwing the next things in seductive high heels. There's problem though, he's got his eyes on the girl who doesn't bat for his team.

Absolutely the hottest, most delicious, sexiest piece of writing I've ever come across! Whoa, Johnny! Seriously, this book is pretty much sex every two pages, if not more! And it's not for the sexually light hearted either with scorching explicit sex, anal play, sex toys and ménage à trois and more. If you have ever wondered what might be going on with band of women with a male lead singer, then here you go, your libido won't be left cold!

As much as this is erotica, it still has romance in it, which gives me the freedom to call this an erotic romance. ;) I do have to have happy endings in my reads and I was so happy to see Johnny get some sense bound into him ( ummm... bun intended. ;) ). Johnny is a hot young guy who's plans on shagging every member of his band seems to be going smoothly until it strikes him there might be more to sex than just the act and maybe it would be something else completely if he had feelings for the girl. But the girl he has his eyes on bats for the other team.

What else can I say... if you are looking for a seriously sexy read, then this is the absolute best you can get, with the price of only $0.99! You don't wanna leave Johnny when the story ends, you wanna know more and I'd absolutely love it if C.J. Ellison came out with a novel on what happened to Johnny and his girl after the novella. Gosh, I'd buy that! Johnny Living Dangerously was the kind of erotic romance crack that you'd have to go to rehab to quit!

Excerpt: Chapter 1 & 2

Tom is watching her hot co-worker fall for the big burly guys and ends up disappointed every time. One drunken night he hooks up with Candy for shockingly poor night, actually by her word "tolerable" - and when he makes up for it and pleasure Candy she's drunken half asleep and calls that part a dream afterwards. Tom sets out to put things right and seduce Candy, and show her that her way of ordering a man around in bed isn't the way she'll ever find the right guy, and that sex with him is more than tolerable.

Candy is regretting the one night stand with her accountant co-worker, she wants more excitement, not a meek fellow co-worker. But when Tom tricks her to a restaurant supply closet for some blindfolded fun she begins to be turned on by him, and it puzzles her to no end. Determined to not want Tom, even if he seems to be built under his work uniform, she sets to belittle any connection or want she may feel for him - while he's set on getting her to have a taste of how he treats women in bed, by taking control.

Another extremely hot novella by C.J. Ellison! Where an accountant likes control and his co-worker is about to see how much more enjoyable that is than her normal barking of orders. A sexy story of a guy who wants more than a fling and sets a plan to seduce and secure a relationship with a woman he hasn't been able to stop thinking about since they worked on a project together. I love how C.J Ellison writes erotica but with the romance story intertwined in there in a way that were you either reading for Erotica or for Erotic Romance reasons you will not be disappointed!

Tom is a beast beneath his dress shirt and slacks, a man who knows what he wants, how he wants it and is scheming to get it. Candy wants a working relationship so badly she's willing to try anything exciting, and dismisses Tom because of his profession, but boy could she be more wrong! The pair works together perfectly, the chemistry is burning hot, the emotions real, from excitement, despair and tension to love.

You'll love this if... you like your erotica with a romance with a happy ending, and if you like your romance with abundance of hot sex, blindfolds, handcuffs and dominating attitude! Then this if for you, it's a steal for only $0.99!

I think I've made up my mind, my favorite erotica writer has to be C.J. Ellisson!

DESTINY REDEEMED REVIEW + INTERVIEW WITH GABRIELLE BISSET + GIVEAWAY!

[Giveaway Closed]
Let’s welcome Gabrielle Bisset to “For The Love of Reading!” It’s great to have her drop by tell us a little bit on Destiny Redeemed and herself. Don’t miss my review on her newest novel Destiny Redeemed a second book in the Destined Ones series, the first book Stolen Destiny is available on BookStrand!
Don't miss the 7 e-book Giveaway at the end of the Tour, participate at the end of this entry! Don't forget to comment, we love comments!

Let’s begin!

Niina : Welcome to “For The Love of Reading!” Gabrielle, glad you agreed to stop by!

Gabrielle Bisset : Thanks so much, Niina, for having me here today.

Niina : So tell us five fun facts about yourself, so we can get to know you a little!

Gabrielle : Five fun facts?  Well, I'm not naturally a blond.  I love really tall men--like 6"5' and taller.  I have five cats--well, four cats and a kitten.  I can't say no to strays or cute kitten faces.  I lived in Europe for a while in my early 20s. And I hate typing.  I know, an author who hates typing is odd, but I do.  In fact, I hand write all my books and then have to type them.

Niina : Your newest book, Destiny Redeemed is out now, what’s the second book in the series like?

Gabrielle : Destiny Redeemed is Amon's story.  Amon was the romantic villain in Stolen Destiny and he ended that book being sentenced to Nil, Aeveren prison.  In this book, he's on the run after escaping and is in pretty bad shape when he meets Thea, the Aeveren healer who ends up being his destined one. Then he has to find a way to keep her safe and keep himself out of Nil again, which isn't easy since he's a wanted man.

Niina : What chapter did you most enjoyed writing and why?

Gabrielle : That's a tough one!  This book flowed very easily, so there really was no time when I dealt with writer's block.  I did enjoy the chapter that has Thea in Amon's home but trying to find a way to run away.  The dialogue between them ranged from very playful to quite serious and tender when she has to heal him again.

Niina : Which character in your book became your favorite?

Gabrielle : I fell in love with Amon in Stolen Destiny, so he continued to be my favorite.  His power is very seductive. And he is so sexy. 6"6' of muscle and power.  Love that! I also have to admit that Markku really grew on me.  He's also a holdover from Stolen Destiny, but in this book, he grows a bit from a toady into a real friend.

Niina : What about your lead character makes you go, “oh don’t do that!”?

Gabrielle : Sometimes Amon can be a real hardass with people who get in his way, but in the end, he's a male who takes care of business.  I like that, so the Alpha male idea works.

Niina : What would you say is your most interesting writing quirk?

Gabrielle : I hand write everything.  Literally, everything.  I have notebooks full of 300 page books.  From what I understand, people often think this is a bit quirky.

Niina : Now to more personal questions! Your current Top 5 dangerous bad boys in literature? (and why?)

Gabrielle : #5:  Rhage of the BDB series.  I just love a tortured soul and the power to mess people up!  #4 Barrons from the Fever series.  No explanation there, I guess.  He's just something else.  #3 Eric from the Sookie Stackhouse series.  I have to admit, the Eric on television series really colors that choice, though.  #2  Saloman from Marie Treanor's Awakened By Blood series.  I do love an ancient vampire with dreams of world domination.   #1 Vishous from the BDB series.  Love V!  Intelligent, sexy, and dominant.  I can't think of a better combination.

Niina : V and Rhage are my favourites as well. ;) What about who is currently your book boyfriend?

Gabrielle : I just finished reading Blood Eternal by Marie Treanor, so it would have to be Saloman.  What a vampire! He's just so smooth.

Niina : If you could only read 5 Paranormal Romance books for the rest of your life what would they be, and why?

Gabrielle : Lover Unbound, Lover Eternal,  Blood on Silk, Dark Magic, and Dark Possession.  The BDB series is just one of my favorites.  I love V and Rhage.  Blood on Silk is just an incredibly well-written vampire tale, so that has to be there.  And I love Christine Feehan's Dark books.  That woman can write a sex scene that peels the paint off the walls!

Niina : If we could ask Amon  what job he’d get if he was human, what would he answer?

Gabrielle / Amon : Amon here.  If I had to work, I'd own a club.  Maybe a BDSM club.  I can see me spending my nights like that.  I've been many things in the past--from Viking marauder to Roman soldier to English gentleman--so maybe something a bit more exciting. Have any ideas, Gabrielle? Amon, I can see you as a club owner. You've got a way about you that commands respect. Or maybe mercenary.

Niina : LOL! I can see that… Now, what's the best part about being an author? And what’s the worst?

Gabrielle : The best part about being an author is getting to tell stories I love.  The worst part is the typing of the stories.

Niina : Now before we finish here are some Quick Fire Question:

Cats or dogs? Cats
Coffee or tea? Tea
Dark chocolate or milk chocolate? Milk chocolate
Beach or forest? Beach
Night or day? Night
UF (Urban Fantasy) or PNR (Paranormal Romance)? PNR
Bad boys or good cops? Bad boys
Brunettes or Blonds? Brunettes (except for Amon)

Gabrielle : Thank you very much!  It was great!

Excerpt: Thea finds out who Amon is...

Amon Kalins is freed from Nil, a prison for the Averean race, a race of people who have 50 lifetimes and keep their memories when reborn. Amon is undoubtedly one of the bad guys, he’s done some undoubtedly bad things in his lifetimes – but being in Nil has changed him, and as he’s broken out by his servant Gethen he is broken from his last beating and in need of a Healer.

Thea has just broken up with her boyfriend when a man appears on her door step, yanks her to him and teleports, she’s taken to the bed side of a beaten man and threatened with death if she doesn’t heal him. Healing the man drains her and before she knows she’s being held captive, but that is not the worst part, she learns his name and realizes she gone against the Council’s orders to not aid Amon, a fugitive!

What neither one of them expected was to feel more for each other, and what truly surprised them was that they are meant to be together as Destined Ones. But with past a like Amon’s and the innate goodness of Thea it just might prove impossible to have a Future.
“She’d been warned, as all other Aeveren healers had, not to help him in any way. She hadn’t had a choice, though. His wretched man had kidnapped her from her home and when she saw him suffering before her, nature had taken over. Healing him had never been a choice but a need.
“Thea, don’t be afraid. I told you I wouldn’t let any harm come to you, and I won’t. You’re safe as long as you’re with me.”
The tone of his deep voice was softer now, but it didn’t make her feel any better. She remained fearful, her fingers tightly gripping the drawer handle behind her.
“You’re Amon Kalins...” she squeaked out as her voice failed her. The hard surface of the dresser pressed against her back when she attempted to take another step back away from him.
    “Yes.”
    “The escaped prisoner from Nil.”
     “Yes.”
Thea’s body relaxed almost against her will. Each affirmation should have made her fear for her safety all the more, but it didn’t. Something in his voice soothed her.”

I liked the story, the idea of having Destined Ones, like a hyped up version of Soul Mates, and being human in deciding if they want to be together or not (more often than not the couple fits, but there are exceptions). Added with Amon’s sordid past and his treatment of women before Thea causes friction so the story has its hindrances to the romance, like a good story should!

Amon I liked from the very beginning, even though his past isn’t women friendly, but he seems to realize he’d done wrong and truly feels sorry and afraid what his past actions will cause to his future with Thea who he loves. Though infidelity is something a lot of women can’t forgive, so Amon’s character is treading the water here a little.

Thea I liked a lot in the beginning, she’s resourceful and kind but when she finally gets a Destined One all her sense seems to leave the building and it takes sometime before she realizes it herself. You really can lose yourself in love, and finding your strength again is truly mandatory.

This book is definitely a romance, there are really steamy parts where Amon is testing wither she wants him or not, or enjoying her when she’s his, and so this story gets thumbs-up for the bedroom scenes!

This is for you if you want your romances to have obstacles in front of the couple and their Happily-Ever-After. You might want to read the first book in the series first, Stolen Destiny to be on top of Amon’s past and to learn more about the world.

BRING ON THE BAD BOYS ~ Q & A

"Anyway what shall we talk about this week? I think those bad boys is a great topic don't you think? What draws us to them? Why do you find them so interesting or more sexier? Why do we root for them to hook up with their HEA(happily-ever-after)? Do you like the truly evil bad boy or do you like the bad boy with the hidden heart of gold? and Lastly who tops your list of all time favorite bad boys?" From : Book Lover's Hideaway

Music : Alexandra Burke's

Oh, absolutely! Bring on the bad boys, the ones who wear shitkickers, leather jackets, piercings, tattoos... mmmm yum!

Okay, bad boys do have to have a heart though, redeeming qualities, kindness shadowed underneath the bad boy image. What makes them sexier is the unpredictability, the fact that they look after their women, and have a delicious jealous streak ;) aka the 'no one touches my woman'.

Okay, some of my favorite Bad Boys come from J.R. Ward's Black Dagger Brotherhood ... Zsadist who is straight out scary in the first two books but gets his heart ripped out and rearranged in book 3, or Rehvenge half-vampire half-sympath drug lord & pimp and all around messed up guy with great sense of style can't go on being evil when he meets his mate...

The thing is though that these bad boys are still bad boys after they fall in love, to everyone else except the woman they love. And I think that is what intrigues women. They can kick the shit out of a guy and then bring you roses and kiss you until your knees go weak.

But Bad Boys belong in books, it's all fantasy. Good fantasy, but in RL I go for the smart and educated. ;)

Here are some of my current favourites:
( in no special order )

Bones (Night Huntress series)
Zsadist (Black Dagger Brotherhood series)
Wrath (Black Dagger Brotherhood series)
Rehvenge (Black Dagger Brotherhood series)
Rhage (Black Dagger Brotherhood series)
Drake (Aisling Grey series)
Vishous (Black Dagger Brotherhood series)
Jean Claude (Anita Blake series)
Jason (Anita Blake series)

How about you, who's your favourite Bad Boy?
And why do you love'm?
