Real Men As Characters
by Lissa Matthews
Twisted Up is a special book to me. It has a lot of me in it, but it's based on the sharp, sexy personality of a man I know by the name of Justin.
We've been online friends for many years and talk about everything. During a conversation one day about boots and hats, the beginnings of a story started flitting through my brain. Another day, some months later, we were discussing the type of woman he liked, and who had broken his heart. The rest of the story worked itself into place.
I love writing around real people I know. I love the authenticity. I love the personality. I love the dimensions. I love taking parts and pieces of them and weaving the perfect woman around them. There are flaws that aren't always desired in fiction when you take a real person and make them into a character. At the same time, I find perfection boring and one-dimensional. Several books of mine use real people I know or have known as characters. I don't use everything I know about them, but I use enough to give them a reality of their own.
Justin was so touched to have this book written and inspired by him, that I thought enough about him to write it. I'm touched that he let me...
Justin has had enough. Ella, the woman who healed his broken heart, has been cancelling on him for two months straight. Sure, she’s busy with her job, which has her traveling far and wide. But that never stopped her from sharing nights of trivia, long conversations and blazing hot sex—until now. Truth to tell, he misses their easy friendship, the way her sighs fill his ear as he fills her body.
What he can’t figure out is, what’s changed?
At work, Ella finds it easy to talk to rooms full of strangers. Once back at her lonely apartment, though, she’s back to her painfully shy self—until Justin. Their chance meeting grew over the months into a year-long affair, but she can’t shake the feeling that rejection and pain are just around the corner. Best thing to do? End it now, before their intimacy digs too deep.
Suddenly he’s at her door with a length of neon-green rope and a naughty proposition, daring her to say no. Just how good could it be? There’s only one way to find out…
Warning: The sheets are tangled, the hat is crumpled, and the jeans are worn low on the hips. The cowboy is hot, determined, and helpless in the face of bunny slippers. Readers may need extra batteries to get this one out of their system.

"Okay so I have to talk sex here - hello! what's hot? A possessive cowboy who likes things rough and his girl twisting and withering underneath him. There are some truly hot scenes in this book, every once in a while between the sweet and witty scenes are these sizzling hot bedroom scenes that don't shy away from little ropin' and spanking. Oh boy!"
