Excerpt: Chapter 1

"Theo decides to give up on love when she catches her sister in bed with her husband. Instead of blaming her sister or her husband, she blames herself, divorces her husband, distances herself from her sister, and shuts her heart to love.

Her son inadvertently pushes her back into the dating game when he drops off his puppy, Ollie, as he heads out to deployment abroad. He fails to inform her that the puppy isn’t even close to being trained or even somewhat obedient.

Ollie brings the dating-phobic Theo into contact with Westvale’s hottest bachelor, Dr. Brent Knight. Despite her best friend Lorna’s urging to go after him, Theo hangs back due the eleven year age gap and her past romantic history, but it doesn’t stop Ollie from barreling ahead.

When her high school rival Jenny shows up, Theo decides to fight for her man with comic and passionate results."

The synopsis pretty much tells it all, the whole novella. Puppy Love wasn't written very engagingly, it jumped all over the place. The character thought of something to do and skipped right into doing it in the middle of a paragraph... ugh. Both main characters aren't deep at all and I got the feeling they are just saying and doing corny stuff and things that one would think is generally sexy.

It is a story that had a decent plot, though unbelievable - but hey romance plots don't always have to be believable - what confused me about the story was how the main character just popped into all different places, situation and dialogues, sure this was a novella, but it felt messy.

So I can't say I liked it. I'll tell you few things that I did like, I liked the nerdiness of the male lead and the possibility of more puppies, though the puppy was forgotten when the doc stepped into the picture.

I've read Secret Cravings' novels before with good results so this kinda blindsided me.

P.S: I wouldn't pay 8$ or the 4.99 for US for this, I think 0.99$ would have been a fair price. First it's too short, and it's not as great as the synopsis. Read the first Chapter HERE.

Nina,
I am shocked at your review. I find it to be mean spirited, wrong and subjective. While it may not be what you liked; it did not jump all over the place, far from it.

That's why reviews are personal, not everyone likes the same things. :)
I respect your like of it, I ask the same in return.
Why does this seem so familiar?

Niina c,
I disagree... I've purchased this book and read it... in fact I've downloaded and read all of M. Wyatt's books from SCP and felt that this latest story was the best yet... her other books have received rave comments from other review sites so you're clearly not an expert at romantica reviews... and according to M. Wyatt's website (www.morgankwyatt.com) she has more erotic romance titles coming out soon and I plan on reading each one...

Like I said above reviews are personal, not everyone likes the same things. I respect your like of it, I ask the same in return. Our difference about the book hardly qualifies you to criticize how much I know about good writing. If you wrote a more negative review, I wouldn't feel the need to "de-expert" you.
Margaret / RomanticHero / Morgan your IP address is attached to your comments, using 3 different email addresses and names is unnecessary.
Dear Reviewer:

Until you learn to spell and use proper grammar and punctuation, I doubt many people will consider your reviews credible. By the way, it is "blindsided," not blind sighted.

Dear Reader,

I'm a native Finnish speaker, and in addition to English I also speak Swedish.
You are the first one who has ever commented proper grammar and punctuation in this blog.

I respect that you liked the book, I hope you'll show me the same respect if I don't.

Internet has the perfect cover of anonymity to say personally hurtful things one would never consider saying in real life. I hope next time you feel the itch to be nasty, you'll remember we all have feeling that can be hurt.

I didn't write this review to be nasty at the author - I just simply didn't like the book, there is no wrong in that. You might not like tomatoes when I do, but it's not my job to call you unfit to shop veggies based on it.

I'll fix blindsided though, thanks for pointing it out, tho the method could have been nicer. :)
Dear Ninna,

I appreciate the review and hosting the review. I realize not everyone likes the same type of books, and I will agree that the price is too high. I had no control over this, and this is the first I heard of it. I am willing to offer five free copies of PUPPY LOVE to anyone who wants one, if you email me at my website: www.morgankwyatt.com/. I appreciate your time.

Yes, the prices really aren't under the control of an author.

Thank you for coming by, and for offering your book for others to read. :) Like you said different people like different things. And I've noticed you have a good fan base. ;)
Hi,
I did check and it is still 4.99 on Amazon, not $8.

Hi, I mentioned "Amazon: Buy / $8.04 (Kindle) ( EU price, click to see yours )" as you clicked the link you got the US price which usually is the same as B&N. :) Mine is sometimes more expensive due to taxes and stuff to Europe. :)
I was directed to this website because the author is begging for help because she claims to be 'savaged' by a review. I am saddened and disgusted that the author is urging others to make 'good' comments on your blog on what appears to be a very fair and unbiased review. Everyone is entitled to their opinion and an author needs to learn to have a thick skin. Not everyone is going to like your books.

Thanks for coming by anon. That's how I feel too, everyone is entitled to their own opinion love or hate one.
I don't expect everyone to agree with me. :)
Writing 101: learn to take bad reviews along with the good. Book reviewers and bloggers play an important role in helping authors connect with readers. Not everyone is going to like your book, that's a given. The only way to make sure you always get good reviews is either pay for them, or make sure only your friends and family review. To ensure the best quality books reach a wide audience, take your chances, respect the opinions of others and use bad reviews to get better at your craft, or just tell yourself they were wrong and move on. I think Niina does a good job and this is a great site. Remember, there are lots of places where an author can pay for a promotion, but reviews are supposed to be unbiased, honest and objective. If a reviewer doesn't like your book, respect that and move on.
