"Eight years ago…
Thomas Cartwright and Lady Nicola Fitzgibbons were friends. Over the wall separating their homes, Thomas and Nicola talked of all things – his studies to become a barrister, her frustrations with a lady’s limitations.

All things end.
When her diplomat father gains a post in Hong Kong, Nicola must follow. Bored and alone, she falls into scandal. Mired in his studies of the law and aware of the need for circumspection, Thomas feels forced to sever their ties.

But now Lady Nicola is back…and she won’t let him ignore her."  ~ From Goodreads

This was a sweet little historical romance featuring a bold, take charge "scandalous" young woman who realizes what she's been feeling all these years for her best friend Thomas is in fact love. And how her scandalous past now stands in the way of her true happiness.

I was expecting a erotic romance so I was surprised when this baby was sweet romance. I personally thought this was too short for a sweet romance because sweet romance has to be built on character interaction, the effort in establishing this through letter exchange through 6 years ( if I recall right ) helped a lot of the story back drop and telling what their relationship had been like. But it didn't quite work for me.

I really loved the idea of this story and would have loved to have read a full length novel of this because Cassandra Dean's writing is funny, entertaining and captivating. This was a quick read that I happily returned to after putting the book down. Silk & Scandal had the fun story, romantic tone of forbidden emotions, entertaining writing and great plot going for it!
