"It’s not every man who’ll risk his life jumping into the flames of a woodland inferno. Then again, Evan Donovan isn’t like other men. No matter how great or how treacherous the challenge, he gets the job done. But when he agrees to look in on a friend’s ex-wife after a suspicious brushfire, Evan learns that some jobs are too hot to handle…

Faye Duncan is a photographer on a mission, shooting fires for a magazine. Her first encounter with a wildfire isn’t nearly as wild as her first night with Evan Donovan. Things really heat up when Evan learns she may have taken a photo of the arsonist setting the fires. Evan is determined to keep Faye safe—but first, he’ll have to open up his heart…"  ~ From Goodreads

Faye's run from L.A. brings her to Strong, a small town inhabited by the Donovan Brothers firefighting business ( and the very sexy smoke jumper brothers ), she's to click few pics, send them to her editor and be on her way. But when her ex-husband calls in a favor to one of the Donovan brothers, things quickly get out of control and when she wakes up in Evan's bed there is no denying the attraction, and he might be just the thing to get her mind of the divorce. And Evan doesn't seem that opposed to it either until he realizes she's snapped a pic of the arsonist lighting bush fires lately and he's plotting to keep her in town before this fiasco blows in his face.

Oh how I enjoy the strong, quiet and very well built alpha male who says little but thinks of all the right things! Evan made a delicious hero, unaware of his charm and trying to get Faye to stay in Strong by showing her a good time, oh not like that girl, though we'll get to that. ;) He was afraid to hope anything could come out of his attraction with Faye as her ex was a fire fighter and that went up in flames. I loved Evan, he made the book great reading!

Faye had had it with L.A. and her work obsessed ex, with the divorce finalized she took off wanting adventure, it just happened to come in a shape of a big, built smoke jumper, gruff with three words or less sentences. I liked Faye's inner drive for new experiences and adventure, her plan of sleeping in her red sexy Vette and using Evan to scratch an itch, which didn't work out quite like planned. Smart girl, but didn't count on falling for anyone so soon after her failed marriage.

I had never read Marsh's novels before so this was such a pleasant surprise! Marsh has a good recipe of action, attraction and suspense, you get the love story, little extra with great supporting characters and a little peak into the mind of the perp. This was a great read, can't wait for Rio's story!

Also check out the Burning Up (Smoke Jumpers #1) cover, makes me want to go back and read Jack's story! And drooling to see Rio's cover. ;)
