GUEST BLOG : LANCASTER HOUSE & GIVEAWAY

Spooky House playlist to go with Lancaster House
by Taylor Dean

On my very first blog tour for Lancaster House, one of my first requests for a guest post was on the subject of HAUNTINGS. “What the heck?” I thought. “What do I know about HAUNTINGS?” Then I quickly realized, “That’s what I get for writing a paranormal novel!”

The truth is I’m a wimp when it comes to anything scary. Lancaster House is much more of a romance than a scary ‘hauntings’ novel. Although, I confess that I found myself looking over my shoulder more times than I care to admit as I wrote the beginning portion of the novel, which does include some ‘creepy’ moments. Zoe, the heroine, is much braver than me! I NEVER would've stayed a single night by myself in Lancaster House!

Sooooo, do I have a ‘spooky house’ playlist for Lancaster House? Heck, no! I don’t even watch scary movies! ( I’m a wimp, remember? ) Don’t ask me how I wrote a paranormal novel! It’s a fluke, I guess.
That being said, I DO have songs that greatly influenced me while writing Lancaster House. I’d be happy to share them with you!
  • The song/performance that inspired me to write Lancaster House was Adam Lambert’s performance of ‘Mad World’ on American Idol. The visual of Adam on a fog shrouded stage, dressed in vampire-like garb put my imagination on overdrive. That’s all it took! One amazing performance=one 90,000 word novel!
  • I also LOVE the instrumental/piano version of Mad World. It’s a ‘haunting’ melody and captures the feel of the novel.
  • The song, ‘If it Kills Me’ by Jason Mraz also inspired me as I wrote. The heroine, Zoe, makes choices that will kill her if she follows through with her actions. When you read the novel, you’ll understand.
  • I also LOVE Adam Lambert’s performance of ‘If I Can’t Have You.’ This is not the fast-paced Bee Gee’s version, oh no! This is sung as a ballad. This song goes perfectly with the second half of the novel. I tried to capture the angst of this song when Zoe and Andre are separated.

Review of Lancaster House is coming soon!

Taylor Dean is giving away an e-book copy of Lancaster House at each tour stop! So comment here on the Guest Blog above to take part! And do follow me someway, see them on the top right on the side bar.

"Are you ever really alone?

Zoe Grayson needs a change. So, she moves to another state, purchases an old, dilapidated 1920s Victorian Mansion, and sets out to restore it to its former glory. As she begins the restoration, she finds herself falling in love with the old house . . . not to mention its illustrious builder, Mr. Lancaster. Zoe becomes obsessed with the house as she discovers its secrets; hidden rooms, secret passageways . . . and a mysterious man who seems to think the house is his. Who is he? More importantly, how does he live in her home unseen and unheard?

The unexpected answers leave her reeling—and questioning everything she’s ever known. To her dismay, Zoe’s actions land her in the local psychiatric hospital, scheming for ways to return to Lancaster House . . . and the love of her life."

Taylor Dean lives in Texas and is the mother of four grown children. Upon finding herself with an empty nest, she began to write the stories that were always wandering around in her head, quickly finding that she had a passion for writing, specifically romance. Whether it’s paranormal, contemporary, or suspense—you’ll find all sub-genres of romance in her line-up.
