"He scared me. He thrilled me. And after one touch, all I could think about was getting more…

Makayla never thought she’d set foot in an underground mixed-martial arts club. But if anyone needs a medic on hand, it’s these guys. Trouble is, at her first sight of the club’s owner she’s the one feeling breathless.

All sleek muscle and restrained power, the man they call Torment plays to win at any cost. Whether it’s in the ring or in the bedroom, he knows exactly when to use a soft touch and when to launch a full-on assault. He always knows just how far he can push. And he’s about to tempt Makayla in ways she never imagined…"  ~ From Goodreads

Reading this story made me so giddy and so happy it's still hard to contain my excitement, days later! Where do I start? The story, Makayla's second job to pay off a debt collector brings her face to face with Torment, a sexy as hell tattooed MMA fighter who sets his sights on her and comes at her a subtle as the fighter he is. But jealousy and his violence scare Makayla, she seems to have the right things to say to calm him down, but with her own dark past with family violence is her attraction to Torment going to doom her yet again.

I loved Torment, he didn't just bring it to others but had a tormented past of his own. I loved the tall, dark and muscled looks on him, his hawk like focus on winning Makayla and his fascination with ropes and tying up Makayla when it came to sex, can you spell  hot! Torment's penchant for domination and some bondage was sexy as hell, while staying off the bdsm scene. I loved how captivated he was after tying her up wither on his motorcycle or his office desk... you could see he wanted something ever lasting with Makayla from day one on. But he did have a dark side, he was violent, but he knew how to control it, the was protective overly so but Makayla seemed to know how to control his toeing on the line behavior. He was bossy, arrogant and over protective but Maykayla was his perfect match, knowing how to get him off the ledge, or maybe he did all by himself. That side of him was very very interesting, as I've never read a hero before with serious over protectiveness issues.

I absolutely, definitely loved Makayla, she was funny as hell, She kept cracking me up left and right with her observations and her dry wit, of course her reactions to Torment were as hilarious as they come. With all the amusement in her, she still had darker side, even though she abhorred violence, literally it made her hurl, she had a side that handled Torment, she had some fighter in her though even if she chose to deny it and be as far away from it as she could. Of course working in Torment's unsanctioned MMA club didn't help and she was forced to change, to become who she was supposed to be, and that wasn't a girl afraid of some blood and action.

The romance was so beautiful - man I wanna read this book again! It was hot, the chemistry was perfect and Torment being an MMA fighter just added to the intensity of it all. The sex was hot, wither he was playing ropes with her or if it were just intense on it's own, so so yummy.

This should be a series, I am serious, could read twenty more of these! :D

REVIEW - GIRL LEAST LIKELY TO MARRY

"Tuck is used to people assuming he's all brawn and no brain, and amuses himself by winding Cassie up. But when he finally takes her to bed, suddenly it's Tuck who can show Cassie a thing or two! Can he convince her that love and sex have nothing to do with logic and everything to do with chemistry?"

"Talk nerdy to me...

Samuel Tucker is absolutely the last person scientist Cassie Barclay would ever date. Yes, he's gorgeous, but he's also far too cocky for his own good and thinks that Pi is a tasty afternoon treat. So when he asks her to dance at her friend Reese's non-wedding she's wondering why on earth she says yes!

Tuck is used to people assuming he's all brawn and no brain, and amuses himself by winding Cassie up. But when he finally takes her to bed, suddenly it's Tuck who can show Cassie a thing or two! Can he convince her that love and sex have nothing to do with logic and everything to do with chemistry?"  ~ From Goodreads

This is the second book in the miniseries Wedding Season, where I wasn't fan of the first book I absolutely adored this one! Then again I've always been nerdy, an astronomy geek and sci-fi fan evident by my FinnCon Weekend. ;) Cassie is like Big Bang Theory's Sheldon, just female and slightly less comical, she can't fathom why Tuck is her choice of drug, and she's mad as hell she can't focus on work with him in the same city. Cue in one night in bed to appease the lust to clear head... that turns into three nights in bed and soon Tuck has some logic she finds hard to argue with when he moves into her University town.

I loved Cassie, though her logic was infuriating at times, pretty much anything you threw at her she brushed off with logic, not just saying she didn't mind ( like us females tend to do ), but really, not giving a shit. Which left Tuck slagged jawed. Of course Cassie's innocence sex wise was adorable, she'd never orgasmed in her life, and Tuck was more than happy to open those gates for her. Of course for there to be a happy ending she needed to do some thorough girl time to figure out what us readers already knew.

Then Tuck, ex-quarterback, playboy, used to of blond and silicone sees a challenge in Cassie who brushes off his advances at a Wedding, next morning she's back to her nerdy clothes but to Tuck's surprise she's still attractive to her. Where Cassie's story arc is pretty much consistent through out, minus the end, Tuck's is much more broad, he's developing psychologically, emotionally and  providing that springing board to Cassie as well. It's lovely to see a guy appreciate a woman for other than make-up and good looks, or slim waist and giant boobs - he truly dig into why he liked Cassie, the brain, the care not attitude her ethics and her quirky ways. Loved a guy as sexy as Tuck fall for a nerd girl with genius IQ.

This for all us nerdy, high IQ girls out there... and to those who love a sexy blond quarterback with a geek girl fetish. ;)

REVIEW - PLAYING THE FIELD

"The romance was addictive, JP pursues Sonny who is trying to convince herself and JP that she isn't dating material, no matter how hot the lingering looks, or how sizzling the kisses or how amazing the... well, you know. ;)"

Author: Jennifer Seasons

Genre: Contemporary Romance
Series: A Diamonds and Dugouts Novel #2

"Single mother Sonny Miller has spent years avoiding love. A rotten childhood and an even rottener ex-boyfriend left her determined to protect her son—and herself—against the risks of romance. That is, until hotshot ballplayer JP Trudeau swaggers into her carefully constructed life, all sin-with-me eyes and irresistible grin. Sonny can't help but feel drawn to the sexy, confident man, even as every fiber of her being tells her to keep running the bases . . .

JP is known for being fast on his feet, not fast with his heart. But meeting Sonny and her boy sparks something in him—something he's never felt before, not from all the cleat-chasers in the major leagues. Sonny may be hell-bent on keeping him at arm's length no matter what, but this rookie has a plan. To get the girl, he must step up to the plate and convince her to take another chance on love . . . before this game gets rained out."  ~ From Goodreads

First of all I'm writing this review in a steadily but slowly climbing fever so if this review reads odd, we'll just blame it on that...

You got to love a good Avon Romance! Playing the Field is no exception to the rule. Playing the Field has a genius mix of sports, chemistry and friction, the story of Sonny and her son is precious, I'm usually not into books with kids ( because let's face it they are mostly brats in books, reading about a well rounded kid is rare ) but I really liked Charlie, he wasn't the stereotypical well-used obstacle for the relationship between Sonny and JP.

I immediately took a liking to Sonny, she's a tough teenage momma ( if you still count 20 teenage, young none the less ) who grows up to be a strong woman who'd do anything for her son who is growing up and taking a little distance from her, leaving an open space she doesn't like or know what to do with. Cue in JP, star athlete and celebrity with a sensible head on his shoulders and no problem with kids. Now, cue in chemistry!

The romance was addictive, JP pursues Sonny who is trying to convince herself and JP that she isn't dating material, no matter how hot the lingering looks, or how sizzling the kisses or how amazing the... well, you know. ;) I always do love a good "hero chases the heroine" romance with hot chemistry and good storyline, hence Playing the Field was great success!

BOOK SPOTLIGHT - SPRING TRAINING (GIVEAWAY)

"For baseball superstar Garrett Donovan, his contract with the New York Empire baseball team meant he’d finally have the means to secure a future for his family. He should focus on that…not on the sassy, beautiful Jessa Montgomery — or what she looks like naked. Getting involved with the daughter of the Empire’s owner would be career suicide. Jessa is a distraction he can’t afford.

Her father had warned her never to get involved with his athletes, so his request that she keep an eye on his new star player came straight out of left field. The last thing Jessa needs is another spoiled, egotistical ball player to deal with. But Garrett is none of those things. His no-nonsense attitude and smooth Southern charm make her blood burn and her knees weak. Giving into temptation, she is consumed by the pleasure she finds in Garrett’s arms.

Jessa wants to protect his career. Garrett won’t let anything get in the way of their passion.
A passion that could cost him everything."

BOOK SPOTLIGHT - FORWARD PASSES (GIVEAWAY)

"Quarterback Tyler Harris is about to find the woman who can get past his defensive line and reach his heart.
With two championships in as many years, superstar Tyler Harris is the best quarterback in the league. Gorgeous and rich, he’s at the top of his game. But everyone’s looking to take him down. There’s a building media frenzy around an unfortunate accident, and the only safe place seems a rundown mansion deep in the San Juans and owned by his late great uncle. There, Tyler gets sacked by the sassy redhead next door. It’s more alive than he’s felt in years.

Lavender Mead has a good reason to dislike jocks, namely an absentee father who deserted the family to coach college football. Maybe that explains her penchant for bad boys who play ball for a living and break hearts for a hobby. Her new neighbor seems just the type. Yet, something is different about Tyler, and sometimes love requires a Hail Mary. You draw back your arm, pray…and give it all up to fate. And sometimes you win your ring."

“…is an author not to be missed!”
~USA Today Bestselling Author Lucy Monroe~

There are two things I've always wanted to do since I was a young child: to write books and to ride horses. The riding I've been doing for years. Until recently, I only dabbled in writing.
I completed my first story at the age of five. I titled it "Wildfire" (about a horse, of course) and illustrated it myself. I still have the book stowed away in the attic somewhere.
I've written stories all of my life. They were my secret garden, my escape from the realities of the world. I never shared them with anyone. I'd hide them away and bring them out when the mood struck me.
I frequented several fan fiction sites on the Internet. As I was reading those stories, I thought I can do that.

Four years ago, I posted my first two chapters on a fan fiction site. My hands shook. My stomach lurched. NEVER had I let anyone read my stories before. What if my writing was garbage? What if everyone hated it? It was a soul-baring moment. Fortunately, they loved it. It became quite popular. Several people who'd befriended me on that fan fic site encouraged me to pursue my writing on a more professional level.
Being a devoted reader of romance and an advocate of happy endings, it was only natural to choose romance as my focus. I joined the Romance Writers of America, and the Olympia RWA chapter.

Six months and 105,000 words later, I finished my first manuscript, The Dance. Named after Garth Brooks' popular song, the original ending wasn't happily ever after, but I quickly changed that small detail. I started my second single title on Thanksgiving Day and pushed myself to see how long it would take me to finish it. I finished it the middle of February and was very proud of myself for being so fast.

To date, I've published four novels and two short stories in an anthology.

A few years ago, I married a wonderful man. You can bet my Green Beret turned Plumber will be an inspiration for a future book. In my spare time, I show the above-mentioned Hanoverian mare, in dressage. I'm also a rabid Seattle Seahawks and Mariners fan through thick and thin. Lately, I've developed an interest in gardening.

An avid boater, I've spent countless hours in Washington State's San Juan Islands, the most beautiful place on earth, and the setting for "Who's" and "The Dance." You'll see more books in the future set on these islands. My banner and several other pictures on this site were taken in that area.

Currently, I'm a PAN member of RWA and three RWA chapters: Peninsula, Greater Seattle, and Olympia. I'm co-president of the Olympia chapter with fellow writer Anthea Lawson. I spearhead the annual Elizabeth Kistler Memorial Retreat in Port Townsend at Manresa Castle for the Olympia chapter.

Service Ace by Cassandra Carr
"Callum Giovanni's professional tennis career is over. He's trying not to be bitter about it, even though it means teaching women more interested in not messing up their hair and nails than a good service. Then Adriana Macy appears, claiming to be a novice, but Callum knows there's more to her than meets the eye. How far does she want to take their personal match? The ball's in her court."

Fun short and sexy sports tale, with some sports lingo but mostly all the hot intensity. I loved that there was Callum's point of view, I tend to like erotic romance from a man's point of view. Even though short this was very entertaining, I liked the background information and how Callum and Adriana approached each other. Also quite hot, the whole action on the hood. ;) Cassandra Carr never seems to disappoint me!

Playing Through by Cristal Ryder
"A relationship is the last thing Lexie is looking for, especially one with a hot cowboy wanting golf lessons. It's all she can do to keep her focus on the game and off Jay’s hard muscled body and devilishly sexy face. But the more lessons they have, the farther his sexy drawl gets under her skin. Does he feel the attraction too? Mother Nature forces them to seek shelter as the power of nature lets loose around them. Will they go primal and unleash their attraction for one another amidst the rawness of the Rocky Mountains?"

I quite liked this, it was very heavy and imaginative from the start even though nothing happened until the end.  Lexie was very hot and bothered by the cowboy, and let's face it who wouldn't be, and the storm arriving at a very opportune moment was just very... lucky. The get together itself was interesting but could have had bit more, not quite sure what.

Up to the Hilt by Cynthia Carr
"Olympic fencing wunderkind Sebastian Como is Rina Rogers’ last resort to find someone who can instruct her toward her own Olympic medal. All her other trainers have balked, saying she is too impulsive, too unmanageable, too everything. Sebastian recognizes her talent and tells her he'll take her all the way. But does that include his bed?"

My favorite of the three, even thought I found Rina very annoying in the beginning and very childish with no redeeming qualities. But when Sebastian had his coachly powers tested on her she became more human, and I started to enjoy the story and the writing, and then I loved it. Lots of passion, lots of sexy games and quite piraty finale! ;)

Over all opinion - Very good little anthology! Sexy, charming, hot and heavy with passion and nice little details. I only thing that bothers me is the cover and the fact that you can see the girl's face, which isn't very attractive, or her body position. I would have been very happy with the guy and the golf course alone. ;)

Sexy Athletes & why women love them
by Cassandra Carr

When Cristal Ryder came to me with the idea to a sports-theme anthology, I was ALL IN. I love sports. I love athletes. Especially well-toned, male athletes. We started discussing how we wanted the anthology to be themed, and came up with three sports (when we added Cindy Carr as a third author): golf, tennis, and fencing.

Each of these sports has sexy athletes. I'd show you actual pictures, but since they're copyrighted, I can't, so here are some links...

Now that I've got you warmed up...here are the blurbs for the stories!

So why do women love athletes? Let us count the ways:
1. Their bodies: Let's be real here, women. We like hot bods.
2. Their skill: Watching anyone be so good at something is exciting, it's impressive.
3. Their focus: These guys had to get through a lot of stuff to make it this far. Imagine that focus transferred to you.
4. Their energy/stamina: While I'm sure there are quick-spout athletes, the stories I've heard don't seem to suggest that's too big of a problem.

Now that you've heard some of my reasons, what are yours? Tell me in the comments!
