Character Interview with Nicholas Ryan from The Marriage Bargain
I’m a huge fan of Inside the Actor’s Studio, and adore the questionnaire they give the actors. So, I decided to torture my favorite brooding hero, Nicholas Ryan, from Lori Wilde’s Indulgence line, The Marriage Bargain. He’d usually turn his back on me and refuse to answer the questions, but since Alexa bounded into his life, he’s softened a bit and agreed to sit in the chair for a few minutes.
Me: Nick, thanks for being with us today.
Nick: I have a meeting in five minutes and dinner with my wife tonight so please make it snappy.
Me: Umm, sure. I did create you, you know.
Nick: Hmmm.
Me: Okaaaay. I’ll give you some questions and it’s best if you just give me your first response without thinking about it too much.
Nick: Yep.
Me: Here they are:
1. What turns you on? Building things. And my wife.
2. What turns you off? Liars
3. What’s your favorite word? precision
4. What’s your least favorite word? can’t
5. What sound or noise do you love? the soothing strains of the opera
6. What sound or noise do you hate? whining
7. What profession other than yours would you like to attempt? airplane pilot.
8. What profession other than yours would you not want to attempt? pre-k teacher.
9. What is your favorite swear word? shit. There’s a lot of shit in the world.
10. If Heaven exists, what would you like to hear God say to you as you enter the Pearly Gates?
It’s about time you got your act together, moron. Now get in and build me a new gate.
Very interesting, Nicholas! I learned a lot about you. How about telling our readers a bit more so we can convince them to buy your book and read your story?
Nick: Listen, I did what you asked, and now I have to go. I’m on a deadline, Alexa called again regarding saving another dog, and I have to put my foot down, which won’t be pretty. Let’s keep it simple. Buy the book. I’m worth it – or at least Alex is. See ya.
Me: Okaaay, bye Nick. Well, I hope you enjoyed the interview my Entangled readers and look forward to hearing your thoughts on my snarky hero! Here’s a blurb to whet your appetite:
"A marriage in name only…
To save her family home, impulsive bookstore owner, Alexa Maria McKenzie, casts a love spell. But she never planned on conjuring up her best friend’s older brother—the powerful man who once shattered her heart.
Billionaire Nicholas Ryan doesn’t believe in marriage, but in order to inherit his father’s corporation, he needs a wife and needs one fast. When he discovers his sister’s childhood friend is in dire financial straits, he’s offers Alexa a bold proposition.
A marriage in name only with certain rules: Avoid entanglement. Keep things all business. Do not fall in love. The arrangement is only for a year so the rules shouldn’t be that hard to follow, right?
Except fate has a way of upsetting the best-laid plans…"
